The word affirmation has grown in popularity in recent years. Its history can be traced back to ancient times and is taken from mantra meditation. Also known as positive self talk, I've seen the difference first-hand. Using affirmations is a great way to start and end your day. It also works to shift your energy whenever you need it. Try affirmations when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, deflated or low. In other words, whenever you need a helping hand. The more you use them, the more you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. Self-compassion is the biggest lesson I've learnt on my journey into motherhood. And affirmations help.
I've created a very special extended affirmation for you, mamas. So jump on over to your mirror, stare yourself lovingly in the eyes and give yourself some straight-up self-compassion.
Repeat at least once every day, but the more the merrier.
I am a good enough mum.
I am doing the best I can.
I am doing my best for others, and I deserve the best for me.
I deserve time for myself.
I deserve to look after myself.
I deserve to look after myself, before others.
I can fill my cup before I help others.
I will fill my cup before I help others.
And I can accept myself completely.
[SMILE]
I accept myself completely.
[SMILE]
I accept myself completely.
[SMILE]
I accept myself completely.
